We clean and treat premises affected by Algae, Mosses, Fungi and Lichens known as Biofilm using a non invasive softwash system. This treatment actively kills the unsightly red, green and black stains caused by algae growing on your property. We also remove moss from driveways & rooftops treating the cleaned area to reduce re-growth.
Types of Biofilm:
- Red and Green Algae: One of the most common species found on walls and buildings. They can cause mechanical degredation and deterioration.
- Fungi: Common on stone and paving. It can leave a rust-like stain and dark pigmentation.
- Mosses: Found on roofs and tarmacadam. Do not cause direct damage however they absorb moisture adding weight to roofs and can lift tiles. Excessive moss can block gutters and down pipes.
- Lichens: Crusts of loosely mixed fungi and algae. Commonly found on roofs, stone capping and window ledges
What is a softwash system?
Softwash is a simple method developed for the treatment of roofs, render, walls, conservatories, driveways, decking and general amenity. We use a non-aggressive high purity biocide meeting EU biodegradability criteria. Specialised equipment is utilised to deliver it effectively and safely onto the material to be cleaned.
Why use a softwash system?
Pressure washing uses a high volume of water. It can clean driveways, walls and roofs, however this alone will not kill the growth causing unsightly staining. The area cleaned can see signs of growth within a few weeks of power washing. Softwash has a longer lasting effect without the risk of damage power washing can have.
